This authentic German WWI-era boot knife was manufactured by Gottlieb Hammesfahr, one of Solingen’s most respected cutlery makers, known for supplying high-quality fighting knives during the early 20th century. This piece comes from my uncle’s personal collection. He collected military knives for over 50 years and stored each piece with great care—this one is tight, complete, and in excellent original condition.
The blade is clearly stamped “Gottlieb Hammesfahr, Solingen-Foche”—a highly regarded mark among collectors. It features a 5.75" carbon steel blade with a sharply defined point, still well-preserved and unsharpened. The handle is made of original stacked wood or composite slabs secured by rivets, and the fit remains tight and solid. The metal sheath is included, which is rare for knives of this era and adds significant value.
