This is a vintage Karastan wool area rug, likely from the brand’s well-known Original 700 Series, featuring a classic Shah Abbas style Persian design. The rug showcases an elegant all-over floral field on a deep navy blue ground, framed by a wide brick-red border with intricate floral and vine detailing.
The pattern is dense and highly decorative, with scrolling vines, stylized blossoms, lotus-like palmettes, and symmetrical floral groupings throughout. The richly layered color palette includes navy blue, brick red, ivory, soft gold, sage, and muted pink, giving the rug a refined traditional look that works beautifully in both classic and eclectic interiors.
Like many vintage Karastan rugs, this piece has the look of a hand-knotted Persian carpet but was produced with Karastan’s high-quality power-loomed wool construction, prized for its durability, detail, and soft finish.
