This authentic antique brass spittoon, also known as a cuspidor, is a classic example of late 19th to early 20th century European utilitarian design. Found historically in homes, cafés, hotels, and public interiors, spittoons were crafted to be both functional and visually discreet—an approach clearly reflected in this refined Continental form.

The piece features a wide flared rim with a recessed throat, a hallmark of spittoon design intended for practical use, along with a low, weighted body that allowed it to sit securely on the floor. Measuring approximately 7 inches in diameter and 5.75 inches tall, it has a compact yet substantial presence.

Its brass surface has developed a warm, naturally aged patina with subtle tonal variation and gentle iridescence, offering both historical character and strong decorative appeal. While originally utilitarian, today this piece works beautifully as an accent object, sculptural brass form, or conversation piece in traditional, industrial, or eclectic interiors.

The spittoon was reportedly identified as European, and its restrained styling and proportions are consistent with Continental brass examples from the period.
