Materials and Craftsmanship
This island began its life as a substantial executive desk, now masterfully transformed into a freestanding kitchen workspace. The original top was removed and replaced with a custom slatted wood surface, showcasing natural grain variation and warm tonal depth.
The two pedestal sides were separated and refined to create an open central configuration, while maintaining the original drawer banks for functional storage. The painted base features a carefully applied distressed finish, revealing subtle layers and edges that enhance its authentic farmhouse character.
Industrial style metal casters were added for mobility, offering both practical flexibility and a strong visual contrast to the rustic wood top.
