This handsome brass lantern is stamped “Maritime – Made in England”, indicating its origin as a traditional ship’s lantern. Measuring 7 inches wide, 6.5 inches deep, and 15 inches tall, it features four glass panels framed in brass with protective cage-style supports, a working hinged top, and its original brass burner marked “British Made.”
The lantern comes from a previous owner who purchased it on Portobello Road in London, one of the world’s most famous antique markets. Its excellent condition showcases rich patina, crisp stamping, and an intact burner and wick — all details that make this piece a fine example of English maritime history.
