This historic Princess Mary Christmas Gift Fund tin was issued in 1914 to British troops during World War I. The embossed brass tin features a central portrait of Princess Mary surrounded by laurel wreaths and the royal monogram "M". At the top is the inscription “Imperium Britannicum” — Latin for “The British Empire” — underscoring Britain’s unity and global presence during the war.

Decorative panels around the edges list Britain’s allies of the time, including France, Belgium, Russia, Japan, Montenegro, and Servia (Serbia). The tin is further inscribed “Christmas 1914”, marking its issuance as a holiday gift to soldiers.

  • Dimensions: 5" wide x 3.5" deep x 1" tall

  • Material: Brass

  • Condition: Displays expected patina and wear consistent with age, but retains strong detail and character.

These tins originally contained small gifts such as tobacco, sweets, writing sets, or chocolates, funded by public donation to lift the spirits of soldiers at the front. Today, they remain highly collectible artifacts of WWI history and the British Empire’s wartime morale efforts.

✨ A remarkable and meaningful piece for military history collectors, antique enthusiasts, or those interested in World War I memorabilia.
